The truth is she paved ways to a somewhat new gendre like Adele and Duffy ..and for those who understand her talent are very sad at this news because as much as it may not be a surprise. noone would like this to happen. the fans are actually waiting for her comeback

Please don't make Winehouse out to be a martyr or some kind of icon. She was talented singer, but she was also a drunk and a drug addict whose self destruction led to her early death. She is not or never was a good role model for the youth of Britain.

Shocking, and a tragedy, but inevitable. She was very talented but as a big fan of rap music I remember the demise of Tupac Shakur and in both cases death was inevitable. They both left a legacy, but were troubled and had personal issues that led to their untimely deaths. You can't help but wonder if those close to her could've done more to help and avoid this but what's done is done and she'll always be remembered, R.I.P Amy... You're Music will live on x

I count myself lucky to have been around to see Ami perform at her best. Amy Winehouse will be irreplacable as a vocalist. Sadly she follows in the footsteps left by Billy Holiday, a victim of her addictions. But my god, Ami did have a fantastic voice. She will be missed. RIP Ami.XXX

this is sad - i didn't personally know amy winehouse but from what i knew of her via the media her story is a classic example of the tragic consequences of a young kid, caught up in a very adult world, in "the bright lights of london", at a very young age and just not being able to handle it.

you just got the impression that towards the end of her life she boiled down to a young person with loads of money and time on her hands with not much else to do during the day aparting for getting drunk and doing drugs, this can sometimes be a leathal combination and in her case it turned out to be just that.

feel really sorry for her dad mitch. he seemed a really cool bloke.

such a beautiful girl so real and honest such a shame some bulll **** caught hold of her and would'nt let go. maybe not a good role model, but a beautiful PERSON no the less. This is sad news and even though she had tried rehab for her problems it wasn't enough. People can leave rehab. Week in week out she was photographed in some bad states, plastered over the papers and yet nothing was done to help this girl. Her management claim they tried to help her but surely the only real help would have been something more drastic like what happened to Britney Spears where she had her assets put into the care of her father and she was sectioned. Surely when a person is so obviously low in their life, six months to one year of being sectioned without the option of being released from hospital until there is evidence of progress would surely be of benefit? It may seem harsh and some would argue this is like imprisonment, but if such programmes help people like Amy, surely it has to be a good thing. We have now lost another talent at such a young age. The rock/actor scene is very disturbing when it is constantly dragging such people to their deaths in their 20's. They cannot handle the attention and the large pay check that goes with it. The media are partly to blame for putting artists on a pedestal, making them out to be great role models and then showing these people on their front pages snorting cocaine/heroine and ripping them to pieces. Why not try to help these people instead. So many young lives wasted.

Can't believe there are actually people saying 'I told you so', making jokes and even worse claiming 'She deserved it'.

We all knew of her problems with drink and drugs, they were well documented but she has now paid the ultimate price, something that should never be wished on anybody and should never be laughed at.

Some people should have a bit more respect and realise that at just 27, with much more left to live for and achieve, this is a life cut tragically short and there is still a family, who did everything they could to help her and are now left behind to grieve.

This is such tragic news. It's all well and good people saying that she deserved it but at the end of the day a mother and father have lost their daughter. That's the wrong way round and nobody should have to bury their child, no matter how how they die. RIP Amy Winehouse x

Poor, poor Amy. God Bless her and her family. The saddest bit of all is that in a recent survey of young girls Amy Winehouse came out as one of the top role models that they all wanted to be like!?!? What has happened to our society when poor tortured souls like Amy are what a large proportion of young girls want to be like. Yes, the press (including the Sun) perpetuate this cult of the celebrity on a daily basis. It is like the downfall of Rome. All our values have become twisted, upside down and sick. Success in life should be judged on our relationships and not how many bits of stuff we are able to surround ourselves with. It is our relationships that are the true measure of our wealth. Without love we truely have nothing.

This tragic news has really struck me. I have been a major fan of Amy since I was 14 and heard Back To Black for the first time. Amy in my eyes will live on forever, I only hope people remember her for all of the right reasons. Some people have long lives and do very little, Amy Winehouse had such a short life, but she has achieved more than anybody could imagine. Together lets remember the enchanting music she gave to us, rather than the turbulent life she was forced to expose.

Such sad news to receive, I only discovered this tragic death of this well known singer Amy Winehouse a few hours after her body was found at her Camden home. So young too, no matter what addiction Amy went through. I were addicted to something in my past years and it seems you just move onto something else to be addicted to, first cannabis then alcohol and now it seems I am addicted to coffee(not as much though). One thing for sure, malnutrition plays a major part in someones eagerly anticipated life for stimulants to put a calm on a troubled soul. Your appetite is not of hunger but to satisfy a sweet tooth, is how I put it. All that intoxication Amy had must of taken over her productive system for food. R.I.P.
