TRAGIC Amy Winehouse is set to top the charts this weekend.
Retailers have reported extraordinary demand for the late songbird's 2006 album Back To Black, since her untimely death on Saturday.

A sales surge has seen it race to No1 in the iTunes chart. It's currently No2 in Amazon's Bestsellers list.

It is also high street retailer HMV's top seller as well.

The candid 11-track collection shot the tragic singer into the mainstream on its release half a decade ago.

It spawned a string of hit singles, including Rehab, Tears Dry On Their Own and You Know I'm No Good.

With a sales tally of 10million, it won 23 awards including a record-breaking five Grammys.

HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo said: "Unsurprisingly we're seeing a huge response from fans and the wider public, with sales of Back To Black surging as our current No1 album.

"Obviously, loads of people have been downloading the album, but we believe that many more will want the CD version by way of feeling a more tangible and closer connection with Amy.

"It's something that we tend to see when any great music legend or rock star passes.

"We're working hard with the label to keep up with growing demand, and I feel certain that Back To Black will top the album charts come the end of the week, and probably stay there for a while to come."

The singer, 27, was found dead in bed at her £2million Camden, North London, home by her security guard Andrew Morris just before 4pm on Saturday.

Amazing how people spend more money on artists albums shortly after their passing ... i am sure the same thing happened with MJ's tracks too.
And i would like to know why people seem more interested after they sadly pass.

Money is not the issue here is it. Its about a brilliant singer being remembered for her music.

Why are so many people buying this song? if they liked it when she was alive surely they would have bought it then, this always happens when a well known singer dies, the leeches come out of the slime that they live in so that they can cash in and make even more money out of the dead star, people should stop buying these tracks to stop the vultures from making their blood money, it seems to be that dieing is the best thing that a singer can do for their career.
